Brad Whitford on this weekend’s Rock N Blues show and the rehabilitation of Aerosmith

Aerosmith rhythm guitarist Brad Whitford doesn’t need to practice for his gig with the James Montgomery Blues Band.

“We don’t really have to rehearse,” he says. “If we need to go over something, it’s something we could do in the dressing room, or at soundcheck.”

Whitford will be joining his Aerosmith buddies Joey Kramer and Tom Hamilton for the Legends of Rock N Blues show, which will also feature guest spots from the likes of Jim Belushi and members of classic rockin’ blues acts Santana and Boston.

As for the status of Whitford’s own classic rockin’ blues act, he says the members of Aerosmith have “kind of got through the storm.”

After a few months of multimedia bickering that included murmurs of replacing singer Steven Tyler, all original members are on board for a full fledged tour this summer.

“We never had gotten to that point where we actually started to do auditions or anything like that,” says Whitford. “All I can say is that everybody’s excited.”
