At Your Survis!

At your Survis!   All photos by John Bionelli

I walked into the studio on Monday only to find the place was picked clean and I had this vision of Jim Survis (crew chief and head key keeper) with his trusty sideman Magee (drum tech and Jenny Craig poster boy) playing Grinch and Max packing all the gear up.

One of these things does not belong here!

Jim had Joe and Brad's cases all lined in a row, these amp and these speakers are the first things to go. Then he slithered and slunk with a smile most unpleasant and yelled for Magee like he was some kind of peasant, get Joey's drums he yelled with a bark, I want this truck packed up before it gets dark! Harmonicas, shakers, mic stands and drumsticks,  Wardrobe cases, Steven's scarves, hot sauces with picks!  Then in the truck went the stuff 'til no more would fit in. Not even a crack for old cranky Halfin! He finished his pack job without too much fuss and said to the driver next stop Columbus!

Brad teaches David Hull Last Child. Did you write that?

Ah, that was so sweet I put my coffee next that story and I don't need to put any sugar in!People are always wondering about the setlist. Well I guarantee that the set will change as much as the Red Sox line up lately. Right now it's looking like it will please the guy who swears he saw Aerosmith open up for Sha Na Na at Sufolk Downs in the early 70's to the young girls who thinks Permanent Vacation was the Bad Boys from Boston's first album.  Close to 30 songs were rehearsed and look for the set to consist of about 16-18 songs that will rotate almost nightly.

Steven belts it out!

Joe's son Tony is in 3 bands. One is a blues band called “The Sons of Blue's” and he has been playing around the South Shore of Boston these days. Joe pulled a Ted Nugent and joined the band for some Blue's classics and then played his fiddle with headliner James Montgomery last week.

Joe with Carter Allan

Joe also had Boston radio personality Carter Alan stop by the Boneyard last Tuesday. CA interviewed Joe for about an hour. The interview was broadcasted on WZLX in Beantown and can be heard on their website and also on You Tube.

Krame Dog on the traps!

I spoke to Tom and he wants you all to know that he will be writing a little something soon so be on the look out. He should be back in action around mid October.

See You on the Road!
