Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry is thrilled about the newest man to put on the uniform of his hometown baseball team, the Boston Red Sox. Pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka recently signed a deal to play for the Sox after starring for almost a decade in Japan with the Seibu Lions. Perry said, "We are proud and honored to have him come to Boston. I know he is going to enjoy playing in Boston, the U.S., and Canada as much as Aerosmith enjoys playing and visiting Japan. On a more personal note, I know he will find a warm reception from the Boston fans for him and his family, just as I have found for me and my family in Japan. It's gonna be a rockin' season this year! Fenway Park will never be the same. Good luck, Matsuzaka-san."
Aerosmith wrapped up their 2006 touring with a show on Sunday, December 17th, at the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, California.
The group plans to release a new studio album next year, which they'll follow with another major tour.
Also due out next year are cover versions of John Lennon & the Plastic Ono Band's "Give Peace A Chance" and U2's "Seconds," which they did with the West African band the Refugee All Stars for separate tribute albums.
