Greetings from Dubai

Greetings from Flight 202....

Hey everybody! As I type this I am on Emirates Flight 202 to Dubai. Seems like ages since the last show. A lot has gone on since then.

Steven went down to the Bahama’s with a bunch of friends and played a show at the Atlantis resort. In his band were Brian Ray and Rusty Anderson from Paul McCartney’s band along with our own Rusty, Russ Irwin. Playing drums was Marti (Jack of all trades) Frederiksen.

Tom went to the Kiss 108 concert in Boston last week. He was taking in some new music with the Fam. Tom is looking great and you can tell he is pumped to be getting back on the road.

Joey went to the Velvet Revolver show at a great club in Boston called Avalon. This club has had so many name changes over the years. It’s been called Citi and Metro to name a few. I think it was called Boston Boston in the late 70’s. My brother saw Aerosmith there in 1980. Back to VR. The guys were cooking on this night. Joey dug the show from the balcony. He hung out with Matt Sorum before the show. The next day he took Matt and Slash to his Corvette dealership. The guys stayed all day and finished up at The East Bay Grill in Plymouth for an early dinner. Slash and Matt flipped when they saw the Mayflower...They talked with JK about the old days, all the bands and records they loved, and of course cars. They raved about the food at the east bay. Slash wants Corvette Mike to find him a Vette when the tour is over. Joey said he had a blast hanging with those guys...

Duff went to the Sox game with my buddy Rick Barton from the Dropkick Murphys. Rick has started his own band called Everybody Out! Check them out on myspace. Duff is a huge Seattle Mariners fan and loves to check out Fenway whenever he is in town.

Dave Kushner and I went to see the Heaven and Hell show in Lowell. It was good to catch up with Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi before the show. What a great show! If you get a chance check it out this summer.

Looking at the first part of this road report, I’ve dropped so many names you may have had it confused with Ross Halfin’s diary. Sorry about that!

Hey Ross, Do they make those shorts for men?     Photo: John Bionelli

You know who......

Speaking of Ross he will be in Dubai. I haven’t seen him in like 6 days. He has been going on and on about his new favorite old band called Kingdom Come. He has them in his iPod and he runs to them he says.

On to American Idol! Holy shit did you guys give Joe some crap for being on that show. You would have hated the lovefest that went on backstage. I’m sure you want to know what kind of jerk Sanjaya was. I hate to tell you but he was the nicest kid you would want to meet. What he lacked in the vocal department he made up for in personality. He was in awe of Joe. He gave Joe nothing but respect. All the armchair critics can say what they want but the kid is all right in my book. I’m sure you think I’ve totally lost it. On to Kelly Clarkson. The girl can sing! I get to hear the world’s greatest singer every night but this girl has some pipes. Again, say what you want but she is definitely America’s sweetheart and is going to be around a long time. Joe’s dressing room was smack dab in the middle of Tony Bennett and Bette Midler. C’mon it doesn’t get any better than that. Joe was having a blast hanging out with the Music Industry’s elite. Smokey Robinson even stopped by for a chat. For all the grief he got, it was a lot of fun.

Just read the NY Post. What a load of crap! Must be a slow news day.

I need to give a big shout out to Mikey and Danielle in the the Apple store in Hingham Mass. I have been driving them crazy trying to get my new computer in order and they have been putting up with my inability to troubleshoot. Mike has been a frequent visitor to Steven’s house so I’m in good company.

No more side projects. For the next 6 weeks it’s nothing but Aerosmith. Looks like the guys will be doing tons of press out here. I’m sure they won’t be strangers to youtube. Keep it here.

Next Stop! Dubai and India.

See you on the Road!
