When did you first hear Aerosmith?
When I was 9, I heard "Dream On" on the bus, riding to school. The announcer said it was "Aerosmith". I knew I had to find out who they were. Then a couple days later I was reading a teen magazine, and I seen a pic of Steven and Joe playin' together, I was instantly in LOVE. I knew these two were the kind of men I wanted in my life! After I pulled my eyes, from the pic, I looked at the article, and there it was "Aerosmith". I've been hooked on the band ever since.
What’s your favorite Aerosmith song?
Well, there are so many that are my favorites. Different ones have different meanings for different times of my life. I guess if I HAD to pick one, it'd be "Dream On", since it was my first. It's also been my ringtone for at least 3 phones now. That equals about 3 years I think, maybe a little more. I still haven't tired of it. I guess that says how much I love hearing Steven sing "sing with me, sing for the year, sing for the laughter, sing for the tear." I wish I could hear the whole song everytime, but that's all I get to hear.
Tell us about your most memorable Aerosmith moment.
Besides when I met Steven and Joe, which was awesome, I told Joe I had been coming to see them every tour, sometimes twice in a tour since I could drive, Joe says to me "That must not have been very long then". What a charmer! I was 42 at the time, and I've been driving since I was 16. So, I have been coming to see them for quite awhile. It was awkward, because I didn't know what to say after that, not that I was really sure what to say to them at all. What do you say to men you have loved all your life, and they don't even know who you are? But, as I was saying. . . besides that. . .
This is my only blog entry on my myspace: It was October 11th, at approximately 10:00pm. I was at the Pine Knob Music Theatre watching Steven Tyler and Joe Perry play the Aerosmith song "Seasons of Wither", when the first snow of the year started coming down. It was just too cool. It was something that I will never forget.
I also remember a time when I was 16, and my best buddy and I were seeing two guys who were also best friends, and I remember one night they air guitared and lip synced to "Walk this Way". You could tell they had practiced it and everything! It was great! That is definitely one of my best memories.
Then there was the time that my friend Janet and I had nosebleed seats, and we had managed to sneak in a banner, but there wasn't any way to let the band see it without blocking the view of other fans. So, being the determined fan that I am, we wiggled and snuck all the way over to the side stage about club level at the Palace. We got to a spot where no one was sitting, but we had great seats, and we could hang our banner!
And then there was the time that WRIF 101.1 had a banner contest. The big prize was getting to meet the band. Unfortunately, we didn't get that one. But, Tracy ( my best buddy) tried to tell me that the work wasn't worth it. We ended up winning $1000 for our banner. We missed seeing the band "Fuel" for the win, but it was worth it. The banner now hangs in my basement, and I get to tell everyone the story when they ask about it. Tracy gladly ate crow.
She made up for it later though. Tracy is a singer, so she has a few connections, and when someone didn't use their front row seats, we got pulled from the nosebleed section and got to go in the front row!! That was one of the happiest days of my life!
I have many more Aerosmith stories. They have been a major part of my whole life. I just wish there was a way to let them know how much they've meant to me.
Give us your funniest Aerosmith story.
On my first drive to see an Aerosmith concert, I got to borrow this great big giant Cadillac to get there. My friend Annette and I took a water soaker with us. As I was driving, she was soaking people on the freeway thru the car windows. No drivers, of course, we were crazy, but we didn't want to kill anyone! That night at the Saginaw Civic Center, Steven climbed on top of a giant speaker, and almost fell off! That wouldn't have been funny, but since he didn't, you could tell he was havin' fun like we were.
Give us your favorite Aerosmith lyric or quote (one liner).
Hands down, it's "Dream until your dreams come true."
Tell us about yourself…
My three sons, Adam, Brandon, and Nickolas are my world. . . and then comes Aerosmith. Just ask my boys, they'll tell ya. Adam got to come with me to meet Steven and Joe, we both wished we could've talked to them more. Nick, my youngest came to one of the pre-show parties, and after the concert told me he understood why mom was so crazy about them. I have Aerosmith on my car, in my office, on my myspace, in my room, on my toolboxes and bench at work. Pics of my boys are in all these places too, accept on my car, and that's just an Aerosmith sticker on my back window. I am a toolmaker for GM. I am a avid UAW member, and I think people should buy American cars even if they can afford more expensive ones.
