Fan of the Week

Week of 4/28 - Andrew

When did you first hear Aerosmith?
I was in the first grade and some of my extended family moved into the house next door.  My older cousin (third grade) was huge into rock music and he was a particularly huge fan of Aerosmith.  This was in the early 90s and we would spend night after night listening to just about everything the band had recorded up to that point.  I've never been able to tell which I like better: the old shit, or the new shit.  From 1991 on, I've been raised on Aerosmith!

What’s your favorite Aerosmith song?
It never stays the same very long, it depends on my attitude.  Right now I'd have to give it to Train Kept-A Rollin', which is never far down the list anyway.  After hearing Joe tear it up at the Hall of Fame, I haven't been able to stop listening to it.

Tell us about your most memorable Aerosmith moment.
I owe all of my happiness to Aerosmith.  It was my third year of college and I had recently started dating my friend Emily, who I had known since freshman year.  She was "visiting" for the night and the night had slowly become the morning.  The sun was beginning to convince us that it was time to go to sleep and as she was just about to zonk out, I started to whisper a song in her ear.  "I could stay awake... just to hear you breathin'..." Well, you know the rest.  I knew I was truly in love with her, and I think she knew it.
Two-and-a-half years later, that was the song we played during our first dance as husband and wife.

Give us your funniest Aerosmith story.
Probably half of my wardrobe consists of band t-shirts (yeah, I'm one of those guys).  Well, of that half, two-thirds of those are Aerosmith.  When I started meeting Emily's friends at college she told me that she was getting the same reaction over and over again.  "Wait, you're dating that Aerosmith kid?? Hahaha!!"  Til then, I never knew that a huge chunk of the student body knew me as "That Aerosmith Kid."  I gotta say, I was honored to hold the title.  If people see me and think of Aerosmith, I'm in good company!

Give us your favorite Aerosmith lyric or quote (one liner).
Life's a journey, not a destination
And I just can't tell, just what tomorrow will briiiiing (yeah!)

Tell us about yourself…
I was born in Massachusetts and will forever be proud to be a Mass-hole, even if I live the rest of my life up here in the tundra of Maine (where I've been since age 4... brr!).  I'm 25 years old now and working hard at three different jobs.  My true profession is in the field of education, where I am certified to teach Social Studies and currently working as an Ed. Tech (teacher's helper).  I also work at the jewelry store where my wife is an incredibly talented apprentice and during the summers I can be found serving lobsters in one of Bar Harbor's fine restaurants.  It's all worth it though, when I see the smile on Emily's face as I tell her I bought the tickets and we'll be going to see Aerosmith in Boston again this summer!

Your favorite way to relax...
Ether spending the day outside (hiking, canoeing, fishing, grilling, whatever), or else tailgating before the show.

Your favorite breakfast...
Spicy corned beef hash on toast with a side of eggs, over-medium. Two cups of black coffee and a third to-go.

Your words of wisdom...
The only thing that is constant is change, so take the time to appreciate what you have today.
